Italy ski resorts

However, here we are, of course, a little cunning. And the ski brotherhood has a special attitude to those who do not ride. For them, they have come up with countless nicknames. A person who is standing on the side of the mountain in equipment, but does not go down, is called the “mountaineer”. A pretty young lady who behaves in the same way is called a “Christmas tree.” And it’s considered to be special chic to “light the Christmas tree,” that is, drive as close to such a girl as possible at high speed. Passengers of the lift without ski equipment, who use it as an excursion object, are called “caps”. Enough? We just wanted to prove that “non-skiing athletes” in ski resorts are more than enough. You certainly won’t be alone. And, of course, the lack of skills will not prevent you from delving into the apres-ski program – that is, what you do in the mountains besides descending from them.

Is it worth going to a ski resort if you don’t ride at all?

Another question is how to choose a resort where you will have something to occupy yourself besides skiing. There are a great many of them, and they offer more than enough additional options. Starting from the luxurious alpine places where tourists come, to be honest, not so much for the sake of slopes, snow and slopes, but also “to see people and show themselves”, to the completely democratic atmosphere of the resorts of Bulgaria, Turkey and Sweden with Norway. The Apres-ski program includes a lot of opportunities – these include spa complexes, evening discos and bars with restaurants, shopping, and winter activities such as sledding, ice skating, dog sledding. Focus on your priorities.

Alps

This is a real masterpiece of nature, and even if you come here for the sake of photographs, you probably will not waste any time or money. Because the landscapes here are so picturesque, and the alpine villages are so fabulously beautiful that all day you can just walk with a camera. But there are many other entertainments here.

The French Alps offer about two hundred first-class resorts, there are about 4,000 km of slopes of different difficulty levels and all kinds of winter extreme activities. The most famous world-class resorts are Chamonix and Courchevel. The total length of the tracks in Courchevel is about 150 km. In addition to the slopes, there are cross-country skiing tracks, a ski school, you can go sledding and ice skating, paragliding, snowboarding or spend time in pools and spas. You can go shopping, go to a disco, restaurants and many cafes.

The length of the routes of Chamonix is 115 km. There is a ski school, cross-country skiing trails, hiking trails are developed, the resort offers sleigh rides, a climbing wall, snowboarding, a pool, paragliding and an ice rink. Well, of course, restaurants and cafes, fitness centers and SPA.

Austria is considered the most “ski” country in the world, because half of its area is occupied by the Alps. In addition to slopes of different difficulty levels, the Austrian Alps have a lot of resorts with world-class service, plenty of entertainment, an excellent climate, and even one year-round resort Hintertux, located on the eponymous glacier with a height of 3,250 m. The most famous places in the Austrian Alps are Innsbruck, Sölden, Mayrhofen, Zell am See. In addition to the excellent slopes, which host international and Olympic competitions, each resort has cross-country skiing tracks, skating rinks, climbing gyms, spa centers and swimming pools. During the day you can ride a sleigh, do paragliding, snowboarding, tubing, ride snow bikes, and spend evenings in restaurants, cafes and discos.

Is it worth going to a ski resort if you don’t ride at all?

Ski resorts in Italy attract tourists because the level of slopes and service here is quite comparable with France and Austria, but the prices are slightly lower. In addition to skiing, there is an extensive excursion program and a host of other pleasures – from dog sledding to participating in medieval carnivals. The most famous resorts – Cortina d’Ampezzo, Cervinia, Madonna di Campiglio offer, in addition to ski slopes, cross-country skiing, sledding, ice skating, paragliding, climbing classes, tubing, many restaurants and après ski bars. And, for example, in the resort of Livigno is one of the largest water centers in Europe Aquagranda Active You.

Swiss ski resorts – Davos, St. Moritz, Zermatt – are synonymous with luxury and big bucks. Here are breathtaking five-star hotels. In addition to the highest level of service and excellent manicured pistes of varying complexity, all resorts offer classes in ski schools, cross-country skiing tracks, paragliding, sleigh rides, snow-rafting, swimming pools, snow-bikes.
